26 Would Have To Do

I came across an idea recently over Pinterest, for a Valentine's gift where you compile 52 reasons why you love your spouse. I tell you, it is not easy to come up with 52. I did try though and could only manage 26.

I love you, Dear, because...

1. You make me laugh
2. You let me be myself
3. You're inspiring
4. You manage my money
5. You helped me make this

6 ..... and this

7. You protect me from my fears
8. You help me kill cockroaches
9. ...and get rid of dead ones.
10. You accept my weaknesses
11. You make me want to be a better person
12. You make me happy
13. You have a generous heart
14. You're a wonderful father
15. You are a fantastic husband
16. I feel most at ease when I am with you.
17. You're patient with me - most of the time
18. You know what I like - most of the time
19. You're a filial son
20. ...and son-in-law
21. You're smarter than me - most of the time
22. You are my rock
23. You are the only one who can put up with my crap (besides my parents, that is)
24. You are everything I am not
25. You showed me LOVE
26. You are God's greatest gift to me.

I Love You Dear!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Stasha's just the sweetest and Monday Listicles is addictive. What are you waiting for, make a list, check it twice and link up with Stasha today! (Gee...I sound like an ad on T.V.)

This week's prompt was given by Kim, the genius mastermind behind Zook Book Nook. Thanks Kim, for a challenging prompt this week: Yin Yang

This is based on a true story.

When Yang met Yin, they didn't know they were made for each other. Yang annoyed the life out of Yin. But she loved his gentleness and his quirky humour that always made her laugh. They got together and stayed together through highschool and university. And after being together for almost 10 years, they got married. Yin truly feels she has found her Yang. Her partner on the see-saw of life. Someone she feels completes her and gives her the balance she needs in achieving inner peace (yes, taken from Kung Fu Panda 2). Here are some instances where both Yin and Yang were able to achieve that balance.

1. Yin: "I'm too lazy to walk to the shop and it's hot."
Yang: *sigh* "Okay, let's take the car."

2. Yin: "I don't feel like cooking today."
Yang: "No neeeed, no need to cook okay?" (more than happy to eat out)

3. Yang: "I'll eat Maggi Mee when I come back." (on his way back from a working trip after being away from home for a week)
Yin: "Haven't you eaten enough junk already? I've cooked chicken rice and will leave some for you."

4. Yin: "I don't even have time to crap!" (sobbing and feeling a little postpartumy after having her 1st child)
Yang: "You're doing good. You're a great mom, dear."

5. Yang: Asked waiter for more mint leaves in Yin's curry noodles because he knows she loves them.
Yin: Was "yanged" out by his sweet thoughtful deed.

6. Yin: Had a bad day and looking like she is about to murder someone.
Yang: Without being asked, bathes the kids and washes the dishes.

7. Yin: "There's a SHOE SALE going on!!"
    Yang:*sigh* "Go, go, gooo"

8. Yin: loves staying indoors and is a very homey person.
Yang: loves going out and never likes staying home.

9. Yin:  Couldn't multiply peanuts and is a complete idiot when it comes to dealing with financial matters.
Yang: Loves numbers, is a graduate in Accoutancy and is working as a Financial Consultant.

10. Yang completes Yin
      Yin completes Yang (she hopes)

If you're a Yin, have you found your Yang?
If you're a Yang, have you found your Yin?

Being a Single Parent

Boy, it's been a stressful and tiring few days (77 hours to be exact). My hubby was away for work and I was left with being a single parent to my 2 kids. Both my mother and mother-in-law were unable to come to my aid due to their own busy schedule, so this is the first time that I've been left alone with the kids. I've come out of this experience with the realisation that...

1. Being a single parent is TOUGH. Emotionally, psychologically and physically. I have a new found respect for single parents. It's tough being the only adult responsible for 2 little helpless creatures who morph into monsters every now and then. It’s tough being the only adult to satisfy the whims and fancies of 2 demanding kids. It’s tough not having someone to fill in for you when you need a break.

2. The first 24 hours is always the toughest. Everyone misses daddy and I miss someone to help me watch the kids while I bathe or cook.

3. Having patience is not enough. You need a special form of Local Anesthesia to numb you of all the yelling, crying, fussing, whining and complaining. Can somebody invent this please?!

4. How important a little me-time is to keep sane. Even if it's just a 5-minute shower break.

5. I can get UGLY. Especially when I have a fickle, fussy 21-month-old girl who doesn't seem to be satisfied with anything I give her or do for her. Especially after having to clean poop off her bum 5 times in a day (she has this habit of holding it in and letting it out bit by bit, which drives me CRAZY). Especially when she wouldn't stop crying and yelling in the car for a whole 30 minutes. Especially when she's been crying All. Day. Long. Especially when I need to repeat myself at least 5 times to get the kids to clear up their mess. And what I mean by ugly, besides looking ugly, is screaming at my kids for real (not just in my head), smacking them and yelling "shut up" at my girl for the first time. All of which I'm feeling darn guilty for doing.

6. My left eye twitches when I’m super stressed.

7. Having a healthy, living mom and a mom-in-law to answer distress calls is a true blessing.

8. I'm tougher than I thought I was. The task of having to care for my kids all by myself has always seemed daunting to me and I'd freak out at the thought of it. If I'd have to do it again, I think I probably would be able to make it through a whole week (baby steps) without help.

9. I need my Hubby around to be a father to my kids and a supportive husband to me. Yes I do, for better for worse, in sickness and in health, for richer and richer still, to love and to cherish, till NEVER will we part.

I'm SO glad you're home, dear.

What Has Become of Us

We used to...

Catch up on our day.

Tell each other how our bosses are driving us crazy.

Talk about places we'd like to visit.

Plan activities for the coming weekend.

Talk about what movies we'd like to watch at the cinema.

Debate over current issues.

Talk about how our politicians messed up the country.

Share our thoughts and feelings.

But now...

We do this.

At a restaurant the other day, my husband and I spent 15 minutes trying to outdo each other with this Monkey toy; while waiting for our food to arrive. Notice how it's not that easy to get it to flip back to it's feet. It requires a certain amount of skill. We spent another 5 minutes studying the toy to see how we could best get it to flip back to it's feet.

What has become of us?
