Mummy Milk Why?

No, it's not an ad to promote the goodness of breastmilk. Neither am I going to write about why you should breastfeed. It's what my daughter says when she wants her fix from me.

She's almost 2 and half now and has been on Mummy's Milk since the first minute she was born. I think it's time to give my little ladies a break. I've been trying to wean her off the in-between feeds and allowing it only as a before-bedtime snack. But despite telling her for 2 weeks now that she's only allowed her fix before she sleeps or naps, she still tries her luck every now and then with this ...

Mummy milk why?

She might as well ask why already knowing that my answer will be a "'No". She's proactive like that. Then, with a "No" for an answer, the question multiplies...

Why Mummy? Why?!

Then...

WHhhhyy Maaameeeee?! Why!! Waaiiiiihhhhhh...

After explaining to her that it's a "No" because she's a big girl now, she either gives me a full scale TT tantrum or says "oh, I see" and walks away. Sometimes she turns a little neurotic. Like the other day when she went off to play on her own with a balloon and while bouncing it up and down, kept repeating...

"kenot dring mamee milk anymore, kenot dring mamee milk anymore...".... with a rhythm to it.

The poor thing.

Weaning is so hard on a child and in some cases even harder on the mother. As I was coming up with a plan on how to wean her, it hit me that No.2 could possibly be the last child I will ever breastfeed because she could be the last child we will ever have. After this round, my little ladies could possibly retire F.O.R.E.V.E.R. Ouch, it hurts. When it happens, I'll need time to grieve the end of my milk-producing days.

I can picture it now - the neurotic me trying to breastfeed my daughter's doll one day.

God forbid.

The Next 3 Months

I hope you weren't bored to tears reading about my first 2 months of blogging, because here I am again writing about how the next 3 months after that was like.

April was the month I discovered Twitter and it drove me a little crazy, which led to this post: Going Cuckoo Over Twitter.

Then I went against my own words never to have a Facebook account and went on to not only open a Facebook account but also fall in love with it. For the record, I'm not that in love with it anymore.

I also discovered linky love in April where I participated in my first link-up with Lovelinks. I linked up this post: The Convenience of Having a Willy which was inspired by my contractor who so graciously decided to "water and fertilize" my dying potted plant.

May was Mommy Month and seeing that it was my first year of blogging, I wrote a tribute to none other than my beloved Mommy.

Also, in May, my son hit on 3 girls in less than 15 minutes. I was so proud. Actually, I was more shocked than proud.

June was Award Month! I received my first award and revealed 7 previously unknown facts about myself!

Let's see, what else...

 - came up with a Photo Guessing Fun series which has been shelved since Picnesday came along.
 - wrote about Common Courtesies In Bloggyland
 - and made my own Blog Button

I guess that's it for the 2nd quarter!

The First 2 Months

So, the girls over at... a lot of places (I'm just going to go with Jen here. You'll meet the other fabulous 7 at her place) are hosting a linky to wrap up a whole year of your blogging journey. I thought I'd give it a go to reminisce on how I first started and how it's turned out for me in my first year of blogging.

Once upon a time, there lived a mom of 2, who knew nuts about blogging....

Really?! You have a BLOG?! Oh WOW! 

My first reaction when told by my hubby's cousin that she has a blog. That conversation sparked an interest in me to have my own blog - to have something to call my own; an outlet for my thoughts and feelings. Something to keep me out of the mental asylum.

Okay this can't be too hard to do. Go to Blogger (I thought all bloggers blogged on Blogger) and sign up for an account. You have nothing to lose and it's absolutely FREE!


So began my blogging journey on 17 February 2011.

What should I call my blog? What shall I blog about? Who will read my blog? Oh yeah, me.


And for the first time I gave birth to something without the aid of the epidural - my first post: What's in a party pack?. My son was about to celebrate his 4th birthday and I was busy doing up his party packs at that time.

After that, I just went on to blog about my kids...

What I made as a gift for my son's 4th birthday,
What I teach my kids,
How they drove me crazy,
What I cook for the family.

I even wrote the shortest post EVER! Someone ought to give me an award for this. Yes, The Shortest Post Award please. Thank you.

Then, after blogging for 42 days and minding my own business.....it finally HAPPENED!

Yippee-Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah!! I got my first ever comment!! And, I didn't just get one comment! I got 3!!!

So, they might have been spam (I'm pretty definite the first one's not) but who cares - they certainly made my whole month! I think only another blogger would understand the thrill and excitement of getting your first ever comment.

And so began a wonderful addictive love for blogging, writing and meeting virtual friends for this mom of 2 who knew nuts about blogging.

My 2-year-old daughter's favourite words

1. Pink - as much as I disapprove of it, it's her favourite colour.
2. I want! - when she sees ice cream, fries or junkfood.
3. Milk? - when she wants a fix.
4. Other side? - when she wants a double fix.
5. Princess - what she calls herself and every other Disney Princess looking things.
6. Nothing. - when she just did something she's not suppose to.
7. Mine! - when she claims possession to things she thinks she owns.
8. 'member? - when she's recalling something and asks if you remember it.
9. Are you done? - what she asks you when you're busy on the throne.
10. I'm done! - when she's done on her throne and needs her tush cleaned.
