Janice of Mommy's Lounge tells me that practice makes better so I'm going to give myself more practice in writing poetry by linking up to Tuesday Night Poetry again with this week's prompt: Thanksgiving. However, I won't be making it an acrostic poem, nor would I make it a rhyming one - trying to rhyme gives me a headache. I know there are sites to help you rhyme but trying to come up with sentences with rhyming words give me a headache too. I know I complain too much. Anyway, I don't know if you'd call this poetry but here's what I came up with...
I am thankful
for the mistakes I've made in my life
for they were opportunities to learn.
I am thankful
for my hurts
for they have shown me how others feel pain.
I am thankful
for my failures
for they have motivated me to better myself.
I am thankful
for my imperfections
for they have taught me not to expect perfection from others.
I am thankful
for grief
for it has made me cherish the living even more.
I am thankful
for my fears
for they have kept me away from danger and out of trouble.
I am thankful
for the trying times
for they have made me a stronger person
I am thankful
for the trying times
for they have made me a stronger person
I am thankful
for letting go of my ideals
for I would not have what I have now if I had pursued them.
I am thankful
for unanswered prayers
for I trust that He knows what's best for me.

I am thankful
for my life
for it has been good
for it has been good
and I am blessed.
